NEW! Downtown Denver Partnership launches Certifiably Green Denver, a certification program for downtown businesses. For more info, go here.
Downtown Denver rests on the high plains at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Moderate temperatures, low levels of humidity, and abundant sunshine provide an ideal climate for year-round activities. Downtown Denver enjoys 300 sunny days a year – more annual days of sunshine than either San Diego or Miami Beach.
Our unique climate makes Downtown Denver an attractive destination where residents and visitors are able to enjoy a variety of outdoor amenities, including plazas, pocket parks, civic landmarks, and natural river corridors.
Along with an inviting natural environment, Downtown Denver is primed to become a leader in “green” practices. By implementing innovative land use projects, enhancing the multimodal transportation system, administering building efficiency standards, promoting progressive energy preservation techniques, and utilizing our natural resources, Downtown Denver is positioned to become a model city for eco-friendly, sustainable living.
The Denver Downtown Area Plan outlines policy designed to achieve a Greener Downtown:
1. An Outdoor Downtown
2. A Rejuvenated Civic Center
3. Sustainable Use of Resources
What We're Doing:
The Downtown Denver Partnership and Business Improvement District actively promote a Greener Downtown as achieved by the Denver Downtown Area Plan. We provide project and program management support, community outreach, and facilitation of public-private partnerships.
